The Coleman Camp Axe is a great and solid feeling axe with a 1.25 lb head, which comes sharpened with a nice edge. However, it is recommended to sharpen it frequently. The edge stays sharp once properly sharpened, but may lose sharpness quickly when chopping hard woods like maple or oak. The handle has a girth of around 2 inches and feels solid, but the customer had not yet put it to the test. There is a molded plastic cover included, but you have to tear it up to get it off the axe, so the customer recommended using a strip of duct tape to cover the edge when not in use. Overall, the Coleman Camp Axe is a great product with a solid feel and sharp edge, but it requires frequent sharpening and may not hold up well when cutting hard woods.
