The NiteRider Mako Series is a powerful bike headlight that provides great visibility on dark paths or for those riding on the road alongside motorized vehicles. It is almost as bright as a motorcycle headlight and comes with three settings - high, medium, and flashing. The headlight has a feeling of being built with quality and comes with a well-built switch. It throws a fairly wide low power light to see the entire width of the street and has a nice-sized bright cone out front. The light also shows side light through the slits for good side visibility to approaching intersecting drivers. It takes alkaline batteries, which according to a customer's review provide a runtime of up to 30 hours on "blink" mode. It is also reasonably priced. However, some customers have complained about the quality of its Construction, mentioning that it is made of cheaply molded plastic and that the handlebar mount doesn't allow for proper adjustment, so the light kept tipping forward while biking. According to one user, their light detached and fell to the ground and was immediately disintegrated by a car behind them. Another user complained about the blinking mode having a steady rate of 120 beats per minute rather than a variable pulsing rate that would be better at gaining attention.
