What is the Aqua Lung Airsource 3?

The Aqua Lung Airsource 3 is a unique combination of a buoyancy compensator and an alternate air source. This innovative device allows divers to inflate their buoyancy compensator while also providing an emergency air supply. It helps to streamline equipment by integrating two essential functions into one unit, making it easier and more efficient for divers to manage their gear underwater.

How does the Aqua Lung Airsource 3 work?

The Aqua Lung Airsource 3 functions by utilizing a single hose design that connects to your tank, allowing air to fill the buoyancy compensator during dives. When needed, a diver can easily switch to the alternate air source by pulling the activation switch. This feature is essential during buddy dives, providing an emergency air supply in a compact form, thus enhancing safety and convenience while underwater.

What are the key features of the Aqua Lung Airsource 3?

Key features of the Aqua Lung Airsource 3 include its self-flushing design, integrated alternate second stage, and compact size which reduces clutter on the diving rig. It also offers an adjustable buoyancy control with a large, well-placed inflator button for ease of use. These features make it suitable for both recreational divers and professionals who value versatility in their equipment.

Is the Aqua Lung Airsource 3 suitable for all types of diving?

Yes, the Aqua Lung Airsource 3 is versatile and can be used in various diving conditions, whether recreational, technical, or in warmer temperatures. Its compact design makes it a favorite among travelers who want to keep their dive gear lightweight and easy to handle. It's particularly useful in buddy diving situations where a secondary air source is beneficial, making it ideal for divers of all experience levels.

How should I maintain my Aqua Lung Airsource 3?

To maintain your Aqua Lung Airsource 3, regular visual inspections are essential to check for signs of wear or damage. Rinse the unit with fresh water after every dive to remove salt and debris. Additionally, it is recommended to have the unit serviced professionally at an authorized center periodically to ensure optimal performance. A well-maintained Airsource 3 not only ensures reliability but also enhances your diving experience.

What materials is the Aqua Lung Airsource 3 made of?

The Aqua Lung Airsource 3 is crafted from high-quality, durable materials designed to withstand the marine environment. It features a robust outer shell that resists abrasions along with corrosion-resistant internal components. This emphasis on sturdy materials ensures the longevity of the unit, reducing the need for frequent replacements and giving divers confidence in their equipment even in challenging conditions.

What size of tanks can the Aqua Lung Airsource 3 be used with?

The Aqua Lung Airsource 3 is compatible with standard dive tanks that supply air at 200-300 bar pressures. This allows for flexibility as it can be integrated with various tank sizes commonly utilized in both recreational and professional diving scenarios. It's essential to use it with the appropriate valve and fitting to ensure a secure and reliable connection during dives.

Can I use the Aqua Lung Airsource 3 for underwater photography?

While the Aqua Lung Airsource 3 is primarily designed for buoyancy control and emergency air supply, it can absolutely support underwater photography by keeping divers stable and buoyant while they capture images. This stability is crucial when framing shots, especially in dynamic underwater environments, making it a practical choice for diving photographers who value safety and performance.

What is the weight of the Aqua Lung Airsource 3?

The Aqua Lung Airsource 3 weighs approximately 1.3 kg (2.87 lbs) without the tank. This lightweight design is crucial for divers who want to keep their rigs manageable while maximizing safety gear. Being lightweight allows divers to move with ease underwater, thereby enhancing their overall diving experience without the cumbersome feeling of heavy equipment.
